The Baruw is a Tier 4 semi-aquatic carnivore with one of the most unconventional designs in Creatures of Sonaria's entire roster. Its inspiration list is as eclectic as its appearance: beartraps, bear rugs, snapping turtles, beavers, and Act 1 of the game Inscryption all played a role in shaping this creature's unusual form. The result is a hunky quadrupedal creature whose forelegs are considerably thicker and more powerful than its hindlegs, giving it an unbalanced, lopsided stance that looks raw and dangerous. Its most defining feature is the pelt or bearskin rug-like covering that drapes over its body — complete with two faux legs integrated into the rug itself, as though it is wearing a bear as armor and camouflage simultaneously. As a semi-aquatic carnivore, the Baruw operates effectively both on land and in water, using its powerful build to pursue prey across terrain transitions. The Tier 4 classification backs up its intimidating appearance with serious combat statistics, making it as fearsome in practice as it looks at first glance.
