Mossback

A two-handed sword of solid wood, slow to swing, and it lands like a dropped log. Mossback trades speed for weight, and the stat line is honest about it: Attack Speed -0.03x, the only negative modifier on the weapon. P.ATK +15 against the Wooden Sword's +10, and Ignore DEF +5% where that blade offers Damage Up +3%. Those two percentages are not interchangeable. Damage Up raises everything by a flat proportion. Ignore DEF cuts through armour, which matters against tougher targets and does very little against soft ones. Mossback is built for enemies that actually mitigate damage. Breda sells it at 1750 Tria and requires STR 12, five points above what the Wooden Sword asks. That gap is the real gate. A fresh character will not meet it immediately. Being two-handed costs you the off hand entirely, so no shield. Combined with the attack speed penalty, Mossback commits you to hitting hard and infrequently while taking every hit on your own defences. Anyone levelling through content that punishes mistakes should weigh that carefully, since the Wooden Sword at 1050 Tria leaves the off hand free. The mana line carries over: Max MP +15 and MP regeneration at +1.0 per second, sitting on a two-handed wooden greatsword. Hybrid builds that cast between swings get more out of this than pure strength characters do. Breda buys it back at 65 Tria. Where Mossback earns the extra 700 Tria over the Wooden Sword is against armoured enemies. Where it loses is on trash mobs, where the speed penalty means fewer swings for a small P.ATK gain, and the missing shield adds up over a long session. Pick based on what you fight rather than the higher number on the stat line. Mossback needs nothing unlocked beyond STR 12. Reasonable as a levelling weapon for a Warrior building pure strength who has no shield worth using anyway. Skip it if you have a decent shield, since the Wooden Sword plus that shield covers more situations than a slow two-hander does at this tier.
