Breda sells Iron Sword at 1750 Tria with P.ATK +22 against the two-hander's +15, Attack Speed +0.05x instead of a -0.03x penalty, and Damage Up +5% where Mossback offers Ignore DEF +5%. It also leaves your off hand free for a shield. The only thing Mossback still does better is cut through armour, and that is a narrow case. For general levelling the Iron Sword wins outright at an identical price, which makes the two-hander hard to recommend once you can meet the requirement here. STR 15 is the gate, three points above what Mossback asks and eight above the Wooden Sword. That is the actual reason players end up on the slower weapon first. You do not have to buy it. Tin Tortoise drops Iron Sword at 7.74%, roughly one per thirteen kills, which is a reasonable farm for a weapon that costs 1750 Tria. Cog Crab also drops it but at 0.22%, about one in 455, so nobody should be hunting crabs for this. Kill tortoises or pay Breda. The mana line runs through this whole sword family: Max MP +20 and MP regeneration at +1.0 per second. On a plain iron blade that is odd, and it means a hybrid build gains more from upgrading than a pure strength Warrior does, whose extra 20 mana sits unused. A plain iron sword, sharp and dependable, nothing fancy and it does not need to be. That reads as a fair summary. There is no gimmick here, just higher numbers in the right places. Breda buys it back at 65 Tria. Iron Sword needs nothing unlocked beyond STR 15. The sensible path: use the Wooden Sword at 1050 Tria while you are under STR 15, then move straight to this and skip Mossback entirely unless you specifically want the armour penetration. If you are levelling near Tin Tortoises anyway, farm the drop and spend the 1750 Tria on a shield instead.
