Voidlantern
M.ATK +18 and Max MP +40, the highest magic numbers Breda stocks. Voidlantern costs 2450 Tria and requires INT 17, which makes it the endpoint of the staff line rather than a step along it. Cast Speed +0.08x is where the weapon actually earns its price. That is the fastest casting on any staff he sells, half again what Caged Prism manages at +0.05x, and for a class whose damage is gated by cast time it matters more than the raw magic attack does. Damage Up +5% and MP regeneration at +2.0 per second round it out. The costs are the usual two-handed ones. Attack Speed -0.03x, no off hand, no shield. A caster at INT 17 should be far enough from melee range that neither bothers them much, which is why the two-handed penalty is easier to accept here than it is on Cyanbloom at INT 12. Tin Tortoise drops Voidlantern at 3.93%, around one per 25 kills. Spore Deer drops it at 0.25%, one in 400 and not worth chasing. Farming the tortoise is a reasonable way to avoid the 2450 Tria if you are levelling in that area anyway. Breda pays 91 Tria for it back. A pale orb in an iron cage that glows when it feels like it, and the whispering comes free. Like Cyanbloom, it provides light, which quietly saves you the Lantern slot on night trips. Voidlantern needs nothing unlocked beyond INT 17. The comparison worth making is against Caged Prism at 1750 Tria. You pay 700 Tria more for five points of magic attack, faster casting and ten more mana, and you give up your shield. For an Enchanter who never gets hit, take the Voidlantern. For a Cleric who spends time in the middle of things, the one-handed staff and a shield will keep you alive through fights the faster weapon would not.
