Lycaros World Boss and the Identify System

Update, August 11: Lycaros now runs on a fixed weekly schedule with two spawn windows every Saturday, and the developers have tightened the payout rule. Details in the first section below. Patch v1.1.6 adds Lycaros, a weekly world boss that comes through a portal in front of Dewdrop Castle and stays for exactly 30 minutes. He drops no EXP, no Tria and no normal loot. The developers have also confirmed that he was never meant to be killed at all. The goal is to deal as much damage as possible before he leaves. We fought him, finished fifth on the damage board with 10% of the server total, and received nothing. That is not a bug. Once you run the numbers on the prize pool, it is exactly what should happen, and it is the single most important thing to understand before your next hunt. When does Lycaros spawn? The hunt is now on a weekly schedule. Lycaros spawns every Saturday at two separate times, both announced in GMT+7: Saturday 04:00 GMT+7 — that is Friday 21:00 UTC, Friday 11:00 PM in Berlin, Friday 5:00 PM in New York, Friday 2:00 PM in Los Angeles. Saturday 16:00 GMT+7 — that is Saturday 09:00 UTC, Saturday 11:00 AM in Berlin, Saturday 5:00 AM in New York, Saturday 2:00 AM in Los Angeles. Watch the first window. Despite being listed as Saturday, it lands on Friday evening for anyone in Europe or the Americas. The first spawns under the new schedule are August 14 and August 15, 2026. The two windows sit exactly 12 hours apart, and that is not a coincidence. The old rule allowed one payout every 12 hours, which would have let you collect from both. The developers have since clarified that you get one Lycaros payout, once, across all servers . Damage you deal in a second fight still counts toward the server total and still helps everyone else, but it will not pay you again. So pick your window instead of showing up twice. Take the one where your party is strongest and your server is busiest, and treat the other as a favour to the community. As before, a countdown appears in the Weather Panel up to 12 hours ahead of each spawn. Portal Eclipse: the buffs nobody mentioned The countdown does not just announce a boss. It brings a weather state called Portal Eclipse, and the buff package is large: Damage +10% Move Speed +10% EXP +50% Monster Drops +50% All Fish Biting Read that list again if you already decided Lycaros is not worth your time. Even if you skip the fight completely, a Portal Eclipse window is the best moment in the game to grind EXP, farm drops or fish. The Weather Panel shows it as "Portal Open in Dewdrop" with a live countdown. Lycaros only spawns on busy servers When the countdown runs out, the portal opens in front of Dewdrop Castle. He spawns automatically only in servers with more than 15 players. Level 50, 12,600,000 HP, Shadow element. His kit is Boulder Toss, Avalanche Slam and Beast Rend. After 30 minutes he retreats, killed or not. The player requirement is the part to plan around. On quiet servers the countdown can run out without anything happening, which matters more now that the spawn times are fixed and one of them lands in the middle of the night for parts of the world. URIZEN: "Prepare yourself! Let's fight for our village!" How the Prize Pool grows, and why it usually stays empty The pool stays hidden until Lycaros lands. From there, every 630,000 server damage adds one prize, up to a cap of 26. The Prize Pool Panel sits next to your HP bar and rotates with the Damage Leaderboard. Here is what the patch notes leave out. The guaranteed rewards for the top three consume the first six prizes: three for first place, two for second, one for third. Until the pool reaches seven, there is nothing left to raffle at all. Seven prizes means 4,410,000 server damage. That is the real entry price before anyone outside the top three can win anything. Our hunt ended at 7/26, with six Magnifying Glasses and one Aqua Bloom III in the pool. Six went straight to the top three. One single prize was raffled among every other player on the server. That is why fifth place with 10% of total damage walked away empty. The 26 cap is worth a second look too. Reaching it needs 16,380,000 server damage, but Lycaros only has 12,600,000 HP. Even a server that somehow deletes his entire health bar tops out at 20 prizes. In practice, current servers are landing nowhere near either number. Getting a reward: top damage or a very thin raffle Two routes exist. The top three damage dealers or parties get guaranteed prizes, distributed randomly among party members, so being carried still gives you a roll. Everyone else enters a raffle for whatever is left, which as shown above is often one prize or none. To qualify, you or your party need at least 157,500 damage. That is 1.25% of his health bar, and support builds qualify through their party's damage, so healers and buffers do not need to fake a damage build. Our honest advice: unless your party can realistically reach the top three, treat Lycaros as Codex, Quest and Battle Pass progress rather than a loot run. Which party you join matters far more than your personal damage number. One dominant player took 59% of server damage in our fight, which alone shows how lopsided the board gets. With a fixed schedule, that advice gets sharper. Everyone now knows when the fight starts, so the strongest parties will be assembled and waiting. Turning up solo at 04:00 GMT+7 and hoping for a raffle win is close to a waste of 30 minutes. A few limits that catch people out: One Lycaros payout per player, once, counted across all servers. Server hopping earns you nothing, and joining the second Saturday window will not pay you again. Rewards arrive by Mail, and winners are announced in the server. Disconnecting is safe. Rejoin the same server and your damage and participation time are still saved. The rule that can wipe out the entire hunt If the server drops below 5 players at any point, the whole Prize Pool is lost. Not reduced. Lost. A server emptying out after the fight can cost everyone their rewards, including the top damage dealers. Stay until the payout is confirmed, and do not be the fifth person to leave. The Identify system is the real prize Magnifying Glasses drop from Lycaros and unlock identification for seven equipment slots: Shoes, Gloves, Bracelet and Necklace Upper, Middle and Lower Headgear All seven are accessory-type slots rather than main armour or weapons. That points to hidden or randomised stats on gear you may already have sitting in your inventory. If you have been selling spare accessories to vendors, stop until the first identify results are public. It also explains why the Magnifying Glass made up six of the seven prizes in our pool. Lycaros is currently the only known source, which makes him the gatekeeper for an entire new system rather than just another boss. HP and MP regen got reworked Regeneration is no longer a flat number. It now adds a bonus based on your maximum pool. Total Regen = Base Regen + Bonus Regen , where Bonus Regen is 0.2% of your Max HP or MP, capped at 3%. The developers gave two examples. 10 MP Regen with 1,000 Max MP becomes 12 MP per second. 10 HP Regen with 10,000 Max HP becomes 30 HP per second. Large pools benefit far more than small ones, which quietly rewards VIT stacking beyond its usual value. The rate multipliers matter as well: In combat: 50% Out of combat: 100% Sitting: 150% Sitting between pulls is now measurably faster than standing around. Small habit, real time saved over a long farm session. Four new skills, one per class Body Slam (Defender, Earth): jump and slam for AoE damage that scales with DEF, pulls nearby enemies in and stuns them. Blade Rush (Warrior, Neutral): dash forward and slash everything in the path. Two charges inside a 3-second window, then a 7-second cooldown. Doombell (Cleric, Fire): drops a giant bell over an area for impact damage, a stun and Burn damage over time. Tailwind (Enchanter, Wind): leap backward while dealing continuous damage and pushing enemies back by one stud. Body Slam is the standout for world boss play. A DEF-scaling AoE with a pull and a stun means Defenders finally contribute damage without abandoning their role. Whirlwind is now a DEF skill Whirlwind switched from PATK scaling to DEF scaling, and its scaling jumped from 100% to 400%. Together with Body Slam, that is two damage abilities running off DEF in a single patch. DEF has stopped being a purely defensive stat. If you have been dumping points into attack out of habit, run the numbers again before Saturday, especially with a 30-minute damage race now being the main source of rewards. Aqua Bloom also had an incorrect damage formula fixed and was rebalanced afterwards. Expect it to feel different rather than simply weaker or stronger. World changes Dewdrop ore nodes went from 20 to 35, so mining routes around Dewdrop are noticeably less contested. New Tycoon decorations were added as well. What the developers said about feedback Alongside the patch, the team posted a longer statement about suggestions and balance. The short version: suggestions are welcome but are not demands, and unpopular changes will not be reverted simply because they are unpopular. Balance decisions weigh class identity, long-term progression, the economy, technical limits and development capacity. They also confirmed that several frequently requested features are already under internal discussion, and that silence on a suggestion is not the same as rejection. One part is worth knowing before you post in Discord. Criticising a balance change is fine. Deliberately spreading false information, misrepresenting developer statements or provoking other players is not, and the moderation ladder runs timeout, then kick, then ban. Before Saturday Pick one of the two windows, 04:00 or 16:00 GMT+7, and plan around it. You only get paid once either way. Get onto a server with more than 15 players, or Lycaros will not spawn. Join the strongest party you can find. Top three is where the guaranteed prizes are, and the raffle is far thinner than it looks. Clear 157,500 damage as a party for a raffle entry. Support builds count through party damage. Hold onto spare accessories until the Identify system is understood. Stay in the server after the fight. Below 5 players and the entire pool disappears. Free rewards also arrive through redeem codes whenever the game hits a like milestone, and those expire quickly. Our The Portal codes page tracks the active ones.
