Amethyst Dirk

An iron dagger set with amethyst, and the gem is not decoration. Amethyst Dirk runs 1050 Tria at Breda behind a DEX 15 requirement, and it is the point where a crit build starts working properly. Crit Rate +4% and Crit Damage +16%, both double what Wooden Shiv offers at +2% and +10%. Attack Speed +0.12x is the fastest on any weapon Breda sells. P.ATK +15 is more than twice the shiv's +7. Max MP +20 with MP regeneration at +1.0 per second fills out the line. Those numbers work together rather than separately. Fast swings generate more chances to crit, a higher crit rate converts more of them, and higher crit damage makes each one count. A dagger build stacking all three out-damages a Claymore at P.ATK +32 against unarmoured targets, despite the raw attack looking embarrassing side by side. Where it loses is armour. Daggers have no Ignore DEF at all, so an armoured enemy that shrugs off small hits will shrug off a lot of them. That is the case for keeping a blunt weapon in the bag. Tin Tortoise drops Amethyst Dirk at 7.74%, roughly one per thirteen kills, which is a short farm for a 1050 Tria weapon. Patch Hound drops it at 0.18%, about one in 555, and is not worth pursuing. Breda pays 39 Tria to take it back. Amethyst Dirk needs nothing unlocked beyond DEX 15. For a DEX character this is the obvious upgrade and there is no competing dagger at the tier. Buy it if you are not levelling near tortoises, farm it if you are, and keep the 1050 Tria for a Cooking Station stock either way. The dagger playstyle burns through HP food faster than a shield build does, since you are trading defence for speed on every fight.
