Kettle Greaves
Wooden slats hung from a stout belt that knock together as you walk, and quiet is not on the menu. Kettle Greaves cover the legs slot for a vitality build, cost 1050 Tria and require VIT 15. DEF +15 and Max HP +75 are both the highest of any leg armour Breda sells, well ahead of Trailblazer Pants at DEF +10 and Dustwalker Pants at DEF +6. If physical survivability is what you want from this slot, nothing else comes close. MDEF +3 is the catch, and it is the same catch the whole heavy line carries. Magic goes through these greaves almost unimpeded. A build wearing Kettle Greaves, Kettle Crown and Pot Armor together has excellent armour against weapons and almost none against spells, which makes caster enemies disproportionately dangerous. Move Speed -1.0 adds to whatever the rest of the set is already costing you. Max MP +8 and HP regeneration at +1.0 per second round it out. Tin Tortoise is the drop source worth using at 3.93%, roughly one per 25 kills. Cog Crab at 0.22% and Kettle Beetle at 0.18% also drop the greaves, at rates that make farming them pointless. Breda buys them back at 39 Tria. Kettle Greaves need nothing unlocked beyond VIT 15. The VIT 15 requirement sits between Kettle Crown at VIT 12 and Pot Armor at VIT 17, so the heavy set naturally assembles in that order as you level. Buying the greaves first means owning a piece you cannot wear yet. Worth it for a Defender holding a line. The movement penalty stops mattering when you are not the one chasing anything, and DEF +15 on the legs is the largest single defensive jump available at 1050 Tria.
