Scrap Metal
A jagged sliver of old blade with the edges gone soft. Scrap Metal is the second material in every Eren recipe, always at exactly half the Wood requirement: 6 for a Goblin Fork Stabber, 12 for Tin Can Smasher or Rusty Cleaver, 24 for anything in the heavy tier. It drops from six different mobs, which makes it the most widely available crafting material in the game. Critter Goblin and Buckethead Goblin both drop it at 31.88%, roughly one per three kills. Cog Crab manages 28.37%, Kettle Beetle 24.29% and Scarecrow Goblin 23.27%. Whatever you are killing in goblin territory, Scrap Metal accumulates. Vendors pay 5 Tria for it. Five times what Wood returns and still not worth a trip to town. Keep it. The uniform drop rate across so many sources changes how you should farm. There is no single best camp, so pick whichever mob suits your build and clear it. A Warrior grinding Buckethead Goblins and an Enchanter clearing Kettle Beetles end up with roughly the same haul per hour, which is unusual and worth knowing before anyone spends time optimising a route that does not need optimising. Scrap Metal is MonsterLoot, so unlike Wood there is no gathering alternative. Everything you use has to be killed for. No level or class restriction applies. Where it gets tight: the heavy tier at 24 pieces per weapon means about 75 goblin kills at 31.88%, on top of the 48 logs and everything else. Crafting Junkblade, Junk Totem or Scrap Sledge is a multi-session project, and Scrap Metal is the part that comes easiest of the four. Rusty Gear and Junk Core are where the real bottleneck sits.
