DEF +2 and MDEF +3 make Fingerless Rags the least protective gloves in the junk tier, behind Scrap Gauntlets at DEF +4 and Can Crushers at DEF +6. The MDEF is the highest of the three, which is the only column where they win. Vendors pay 52 Tria. Lycaros drops them at 15.98%, about one per six kills. Scarecrow Goblin follows at 0.17%. Gloves are the slot where the numbers stop mattering much and filling it at all is most of the benefit. Two defence is not going to change a fight. An empty slot changes nothing either, and these cost one Junk Core to build or six Lycaros kills to find. Fingerless Rags carry no unlock requirement beyond the caster gate on the set. What is missing compared to Breda's gloves is the speed modifiers. Dustwalker Gloves gave Cast Speed +0.05x, which for an Enchanter was the entire reason to wear them. Fingerless Rags offer no cast speed at all, only defence, and that makes them a strictly worse choice for a caster who already owns the earlier pair. Worth checking before you replace anything. A tier upgrade that removes a stat you were using is not an upgrade, and this is the clearest example of that in the game. Keep the Dustwalker Gloves if casting speed matters to your build, and take the Rags only if the glove slot is genuinely empty.
