Thornguard Hood

A deep hood of grown moss with petals drifting off it, and nothing finds your face in there. Thornguard Hood is the dexterity helmet of the forest tier. DEF +20 with MDEF +10, Max MP +22 and MP regeneration at +1.0 per second. Move Speed -0.6. Twenty defence on the head matches Soupbucket from the junk tier, which was the heavy option there. The dexterity line reaching the previous tier's heaviest numbers is the general shape of forest armour: everything moves up roughly one category. Against Floppsy Hood at DEF +14 and MDEF +7, this adds six defence, three magic defence and seven mana. A modest step, as helmet upgrades always are, and helmets remain the slot where a tier change does the least. The recipe uses 6 of a mid-tier forest material, 6 Living Bark and 1 Fossilized Amber alongside a bulk base. Thornguard Hood carries the forest-tier dexterity requirement and nothing else. Chair Treant is the associated drop source at around 0.25%, which is slow enough that building is the sensible route. Where the hood fits into a set: paired with Briar Hauberk at -0.6 and Rootweave Pants at -0.6, a full dexterity loadout costs -1.8 movement before Rootwalkers gives +1.2 back. That leaves the build slower than it started, which is the same problem the junk tier had and the reason movement matters more to a dagger character than the defence columns suggest. Worth the slot regardless. Twenty defence is twenty defence, and the alternative is an empty head.
