That extra 30100 Tria works out to 7525 per point, which is the steepest scaling on anything sold in Dewdrop Village. A grey horse that throws up a wall of dust behind it, hard to chase what you cannot see. The flavour sells it better than the numbers do. In practice the difference between +32.0 and +36.0 is noticeable over long rides and invisible on a trip from the farm to the village. That said, mounts are a permanent purchase and you only buy one. Nobody upgrades from Mudbucket to Smokehoof, because Hogan pays 1105 Tria for the horse you traded up from and you have effectively burned 28645 Tria. Decide once. If you know you are going to want the faster horse eventually, save the extra 30100 Tria and skip the cheap one entirely. Whether 59850 Tria is defensible depends on what else it buys. That is five Explorer Rucksacks at 11550, or seventeen cows at 3500, or 239 Village Scrolls at 250 each. Against those, a four point speed advantage is a luxury purchase and should be treated as one. Smokehoof buys back at 2223 Tria, under four percent. The honest recommendation: take Mudbucket unless Tria has genuinely stopped being a constraint. The gap in speed is small and the gap in price is not. Players who cross the map constantly for gathering routes, ore nodes and fishing spots get more from Smokehoof than someone tending a plot near the village ever will, and that is the only case where the number justifies itself. Smokehoof carries no level or class restriction and needs nothing unlocked. If you are still counting the cost of Hay Bundle at 50 Tria, this horse is several stages away. Come back once the farm, the livestock and the bags are all paid for.
